…. Our leadership personnel at Camps Assiniboia, Koinonia and Moose Lake for the summer of 2008:

Camp Assiniboia

My name is Gabrielle Plenert and this will be my 6th summer at Camp Assiniboia. I've done counseling, initiatives, Bible instructing for Girls’ Only week, kitchen, crafts and nature. This year I am a Summer Program Director.  I am graduating with a degree in International Development and Theology.

 

I'm Tim Coughlan from Fannystelle, Mb. I have spent five summers as a counselor and activity leader, and this year will be a Summer Program Director. I am completing my second year at Canadian Mennonite University  and will be going to the University of Winnipeg to earn a kinesiology degree. I love playing soccer. YNWA.

 

Richard Toews is the name, and Bible instructing is the game.  I live near Meadows and have counseled and instructed Bible at Camp Assiniboia. I just finished my third year in the integrated education program at the University of Winnipeg with a major in kinesiology (physed) and a minor in psychology. I enjoy playing the harmonica, baking, sports, working on cars, and poetry.


My name is Jessica Fehr and I am originally from Altona. I will be taking on the role of Integration Coordinator, having previously have worked at camp as a counselor, crafts instructor, kitchen helper, and Bible instructor for Girls’ only.  I am in a Bachelor of Arts program majoring in Peace and Conflict Transformation Studies.  I enjoy spending time  with friends, learning how to cook properly, nannying, playing my hand drum, photography, and collecting old paintings and funky clothes from the thrift store.

 

I'm Kelsey Hutton and I'm from Winnipeg.  This will be my fifth year working at camp, primarily as a counselor and drama instructor at Camp Assiniboia.  I am studying Creative Writing and Politics at the University of Winnipeg.  I love traveling, both around the globe and through the books I read, and this summer I'm very excited to head out into the wild as Nature Instructor at Assiniboia.

Camp Koinonia

My name is Kevin Rempel.  I am originally from Altona and I am currently living in Winnipeg.  I have been working at camp Koinonia since 2002 as a counselor and a mountain bike instructor and this summer will be a Summer Program Director.  Currently I am employed as a site lead carpenter for a framing company.  I plan to attend Red River College this coming year to become a journeyman carpenter.

 

My name is Claire Bergen and I am originally from Crystal City, MB.  This summer I am one of the Summer Program Directors at Camp Koinonia, having served there as a counselor for the past 5 years.  I will be graduating from Canadian Mennonite University with a Bachelor of Arts, and look forward to travelling to South Africa in the fall for a medical volunteer term.

 

Hi! My name is Erin McIntyre and I am from Clearwater, Manitoba.  I have worked at Camp Koinonia as a counselor, canoe instructor and lifeguard and will be Bible Instructor this year.  I am currently taking a year to work in Scotland, England and travel in Europe.  I plan to study Nursing at the University of Manitoba in fall.  I love camping, baking, travelling and sports. 

 

 

My name is Kate McIntyre and I am from Clearwater, MB.  I have worked as a counselor, archery instructor, canoe instructor, and lifeguard and will be the Nature Instructor at Camp Koinonia this summer. I am completing my second year at the University of Winnipeg in the Integrated Education Program this spring and want to eventually get my Masters Degree to become a guidance counselor.  I love baking, camping, hanging out with my family and friends, and helping out with the Special Olympics Swim Program.
 

Camp Moose Lake

My name is Thomas Gerhard Epp and I'm from Winnipeg. In the past I've served as counselor, archery instructor and Bible Instructor all at Camp Moose Lake and this summer I'll be a Summer Program Director. I am heading into my final year of a BA at Canadian Mennonite University, majoring in Theology with a minor in Peace and Conflict Transformation Studies.

My name is Kendra Sawatzky and I am from Steinbach, Manitoba.  I have worked at Camp Moose Lake for the past 5 years as a counselor and sail boarding instructor.  This year I will be a Summer Program Director. I am working on my Bachelor of Arts at the University of Manitoba and am planning to get an Education degree after that.
 


My name is Matthew Peters-Fransen, and I currently hail from Winnipeg, Manitoba.  This will be my sixth year at camp, having spent five at Assiniboia (and a few weeks at Moose).  This year I will be the Bible Instructor at Moose Lake.  I attend Canadian Mennonite University, currently claiming to be a BA student with a major in Theology and a minor in Music.  I love music, theological discussion, and, of course, camp.

 

My name is Megan Klassen-Wiebe and I am from Winnipeg, Manitoba.  I have worked as a counselor at both Camp Assiniboia and Camp Moose Lake and have been the Nature Instructor at Moose Lake as well.  I will be the Nature Instructor again this year at Moose Lake. I will be finishing a 3 year General BA at Canadian Mennonite University after this summer.

Hi! My name is Alisa Wiebe and I love camp. I've been a counsellor, nature instructor and Summer Program Director at Camp Moose Lake. This year, I'm trying something new: directing the Servant Leaders in Training program. After summer, I hope to start my first teaching job.
