Program Director appointed at Camps with Meaning pdf version of the news release (135kb .pdf) Winnipeg, Man (Mennonite Church Manitoba) – Camps with Meaning is pleased to announce the appointment of Aaron Nussbaum to the position of Associate Program Director. He will begin his work on September 27. Aaron grew up in Oregon and was a camper and counselor at Drift Creek Mennonite Camp there. He is a graduate of Hesston College in Hesston, Kansas and has a degree in Camping, Recreation & Outdoor Ministry from Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Aaron spent a summer as a wilderness guide at Wilderness Wind near Ely, Minnesota and a summer as Program Director at Laurelville Mennonite Camp near Laurelville, Pennsylvania. He spent the last two years as a leader with Canadian Mennonite University’s Outtatown program at their South Africa site. Aaron and Tessa Callan, a school counselor and native of Winnipeg, were married in July. The Associate Program Director position was created in fall 2009 after the resignation of Bob Wiebe, long-time Director of Camping Ministries. Camps with Meaning is very thankful for the creative and diligent work of Kristy Letkeman, who has filled this position on an interim basis. Kristy will complete her work October 8. David Hogue, Camp Assiniboia manager and interim team leader, and Pam Peters-Pries, part-time interim administrator, will continue in their interim positions into 2011. Mennonite Church Manitoba’s board continues to work at the implementation of the “New Directions and Implications” report presented to the MCM delegate body in February 2010. Decisions regarding the future, long-term leadership structure of Camps with Meaning will be part of that implementation process. Camps with Meaning is a ministry of Mennonite Church Manitoba providing a summer camping ministry and offering hospitality services on a year round basis.
